Husband just diagnosed with bowel cancer

hello everyone I’m new here.

My husband had a colonoscopy last Sunday and has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. He then had MRI the next day and is going for CT this coming Wednesday. Waiting to see if it has spread anywhere else. I’m so worried, he’s told his close friends and family. I’m doing my best to stay strong for him but it’s so hard. His nurse phoned yesterday to introduce herself and tell us what happens next. The waiting is so hard so I thought I’d post here

  • Hi there and welcome ..

So sorry your hubby has this diagnosis.. it sure is a rollercoaster ride .. but there's lots of us on here with him .. it feels like wer all strapped in .. and don't know how to get off .. but when it gets too scary .. just look round.. wer all there holding on tight ...

One thing I have learned on my journey .. is share .. don't hold it all in .. otherwise everyone tries to be strong .. admit to each other it's scary .. and share tears .. and hugs .. and walk side by side on his cancer journey... holding feelings in.. is o.k short term .. but at some point they come out like a tornado. .

If you can open up .. let feelings out .. then say .. right wer gonna get in the ring .. boxing gloves on .. look it in the eye .. and kick it's *** ... cancer wants you to hold it in.. and brake .. and give up .. don't let it .. wer all here , holding each others hand .. and you can do this .. together ... Chrissie

  • Hello again

we saw the consultant wednesday and he confirmed rectum cancer, the results of the MRI and CT confirmed it had not spread anywhere else. The cancer has however spread to the nodes. Thursday we were back at hospital to see the Chemo and Radiotherapy Dr. They will start chemo with 2 week. He is also having another colonoscopy to removed a polyp higher up that has cell changes. I’m being strong for him but feel very alone as he doesn’t want to tell people.
