Stage 4 lungs. Brain & lymph nodes

Hi all

My beautiful wife only 29 yrs old has just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer... It's in her lungs spread to her brain and looks like it's in some glands .. she has never smoked has been healthy till now had no symptoms at all... just the other day had a seizure while out and taken to hospital after a scan we were told the news she had anomalies in the brain and swelling that caused the seizure after another scan they spotted the shadow in her lung... We are just in shock we have a 3yr old son. Our whole world is being torn apart...

She is having a biopsy tomorrow so they can identify the type of cancer....

Are there any survival stories out there were just hoping she can beat this

  • Hiya,

I am really sorry to hear abour your wife and her diagnosis and im sorry you are going through this too, cancer is hard on everyone surrounding it. I know it is one of the the hardest things the world to be told but try to stay positive, there is always a chance at this stage that she could beat this. There are all sorts of factors that contribute to the chance of beating it such as general health, the type of cancer, the treatment she recieves, so many things come into it. Shock of course is completely normal, and it will sink in as time goes on and more inforomation comes in, waiting can be one of the worst parts of all this but its good to try and distract yourself if you can, which I know can feel impossible.

Do you have a good support network? Family who can help you through and support you if they can, this makes a huge difference, I know it can be hard to tell family or even think about it :/ but you also have us on here, we are always happy to chat, whatever you might need.

I wish you all the best for tomorrow,

    Bex

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply... biopsy didn't go to plan she had another seizure whilst at the hospital. But they did get the tissue they needed. back home again now. Results and proposed treatment plan next week once they know what they are dealing with..

She had a lot of family around they are all doing what they can. Everyone in shock the lung is the primary. She has never smoked and is healthy we hoping that she can be treated. We're still in total shock this time last week everything was normal

  • Hi!

I was diagnosed in Oct 15 with terminal NSCLC with Mets in my glands and later in my Brain. Had chemo who did not work for me and brain surgery to remove tumor. Now i get Immuntherapy with Nivulumnab sice Aug 16 and feel good. Can still life a happy life even as they told me i only have 10 to 12 months left in Oct 15!!!

So i hope when they get the results from your wife they got a good treatment for her to. They may start with radiation to the brain.

    Best wishes, Pet

  • Thats ok, Im sorry, at least they got the sample they needed though so you dont have to worry about doing it all again. It will be good to get some information on what will happen next, i always hated the waiting but its best to keep as busy as you can. Im really glad you have family around you to support you both. The shock will subside eventually and reality starts to set it which is hard. You are doing an amazing thing supporting your wife the way you are and I know its one of the hardest things you both will ever go through. Its a hard thing to carry, staying strong for someone you love, but you're doing amazing and I wish the best for both of you with the best outcome. Please if you want to, let us know how you get on and im really sorry this is such a late reply my notifications only just came through :/ I hope your both ok. We're here if you need us.
