Hi everyone we have just  been told my sister has lung cancer it has spred to bones in the chest abdomen legs and also eaten away at spine and hip She needs a hip replacement asap We are all still in shock so dont want to ask her too many questions would appreciate it if anyone could tell me at which stage the cancer is please she has started on radiation and starting some tablet today thank you

    I'm so sorry to hear about your Sister. My Dad has recently been diagnosed with lung Cancer too.

    There are so many different types and they staged my Dads as follows:

    T4 (This is the size of tumour) N3 (this is how many nodes are affected) M0 (This means it hasn't spread to anywhere else in the body if it's zero)

    Also he has non small cell cancer which is the most common but there is also small cell cancer which is completely different.

    Sorry, I know I can't help you stage it but just wanted to explain how Dads was staged.

    Sorry to hear about your dad and thank you for replying my sisters lung cancer is genetic and have been told stage 4 I want to be there for her but at the same time dont want to bombard her with all the questions i have going around in my head if that makes sense x

    I was the same really as my Mum and Dad were quite shocked and don't think the information was sinking in so I asked could I go to the appointment with them. As, like you, I didn't want to bombard with questions but wanted to support as best I can.

    Also the Macmillian nurse (If your sister gives permisssion) can talk you through it. I found that so helpful x
