My husband started chemo earlier in the year for colon cancer with multiple liver metes and lymph. He didn't react to well to folfox. When he had his staging scan last week we found the chemo hasn't worked and all his tumours have grown in size. He's been offered another try with folfiri. Has anyone tried this one was he's not happy with trying again for it not to work. Has anyone had good results

    A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. I am really sorry to hear that your husband hasn't reacted well to FOLFOX and that the tumours have grown in size. I hope that the FOLFIRI combination will work well and that he will hear from others here who have had it before. It can be a difficult decision to try a new drug after having had a bad experience with another one but I hope that everything goes well for him.

    I also did a little search on our forum for other members who have had FOLFIRI before and found that [@Jon]‍ mentioned on this post that he had had a similar kind of treatment for bowel cancer so he could be a good person for you to connect with.

    I hope you will hear from others here who have had this particular drug. Perhaps if you add the word FOLFIRI to the title of this post, it might attract more people to respond to your post as they will immediately see  from the homepage the mention of the drug name.

    Hi thank you for your comment . Unfortunately my husband has decided not to go ahead with any other treatment, which I wasn't overly happy with but it was his wish at the end of the day and had his picc line removed earlier this week x

    Hi Jobas,

    This is always particularly difficult for family members. You are quite right, you must respect your husband's wishes. He knows how much his body can take and what quality of life he is getting with treatment.

    Sometimes the cost of such treatment is just too much. It is also difficult to raise ones hopes only to have them dashed again when treatment doesn't work for him.I am afraid that I know little about colon cancer, I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 8 years.

    Can I just say what a brave decision your husband made and wish you both all the very best?
