It’s a relief when you eventually get a final treatment plan and then you prepare yourself for what’s to come. Your mask fitting won’t take long and is simple and painless. Your oncologist will have explained all the various side effects you may expect from the radiotherapy. Some of these have the potential to be very unpleasant but we all react differently and, even though I was prepared for the worst, I got through with mild skin discomfort, a sore throat and slight pain when swallowing, which is just about as good as it gets... hopefully your husband will experience nothing worse. Tips once more, apply acqueous cream liberally throughout the RT period : I found honey taken immediately after each session was calming, and, you will get tired, so rest up whenever the chance arises. If your RT centre is anything like mine was you’ll find the staff very supportive and you will meet the same patients most days to compare progress. My 4 weeks flew. Stage 1 vocal cord cancer is highly curable, keep telling yourself that, and you will sail through. Once again all the best.
Thank your for all your advice , I’ve now progressed to stage 2 but still in the chords, not moved anywhere else. Tuesday is facefit then scan and fight plan. Will let you know what happening
hi hun not heard off you for while hope all is ok
