16 with osteosarcoma

Hi, I'm Aria and I've just found out that I have cancer about 2 weeks ago.

The doctors think it's most likely osteosarcoma. We'll hopefully be finding out what specific kind and staging/grading (I don't know if you all use different terms in the UK, I'm from the US) on Thursday. This was my second biopsy as the first one's results were inconclusive and I really just want to know already.

It's been really weird since I found out I have cancer, it's like my life is just completely different now. I'm kind of scared about what's going to happen in the future as it's all very uncertain, but I'm trying to not let myself get too in my head about it. Staying in the present is much nicer than letting myself think the worst.

Buuuuut, I'm still scared about what's ahead of me though, of course.

Thank you for any support <3

    Hi Aria,

I am so very sorry to hear that you have cancer. You are bound to be scared having just got your diagnosis so recently. Strangely enough, it gets a little easier when you know exactly what type and grade of cancer you have.

In the early stages, fear of the unknown plays a big part in your anguish. Once you start treatment you can begin to move forward. Try not to look too far ahead. Take things day by day or even hour by hour if need be. Cancer brings many uncertainties, the future being one. Try to meet this head on and maintain a positive attitude.

I sincerely hope that your results tomorrow are better than you are expecting. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • HIya Aria,

Im really sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and waiting is definitely one of the worst things about cancer. The future is a worry especially when you are diagnosed so young, but I find that keeping a positive attitude (which I know isnt easy) really helps. I tell myself everyday 'im going to beat this' and eventhough mine was an aggressive form of cancer so far I have. Cancer doesnt have to rule your life, it will be hard for a while but you will come out stronger. I think what you doing at the moment, focusing on the present is great, dwelling on what might happen too much can cause you uneccessary pain. I really hope your results come back as good as they can do, and we are always here for you if you need a chat.
