Mums been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in Liver

After treatment for breast cancer (chemo and radio) we’ve just found out my mum the cancer has spread to the Liver aggressively. It’s stage IV so incurable but they do have a treatment plan which involves Chemo.

she needs a picc line inserted as her veins are not the best. My worry is that this will be in he next 2 to 3 weeks and given the aggressive nature of he tumour, I worry that a 2 to 3 week wait is too long.

any views on this would be gratefully received as we are all devastated

thanksmin advance

Steve

  • Hi there Steve and welcome ...

So sorry your mum's cancer has spread ... I can only guess at time frame as everything to do with cancer has time limits and waiting as there are so many of us now ...

You don't say how old your mum is, or general health, as you say her veins arnt good .. if I were you I'd try to fill those few weeks trying to take her mind off of treatment ... do some nice stuff .. even if that's a meal, or drive or sitting chatting about "normal" things ..

Make the most of each day and build as many good memories as you can ... coz cancer wants us to crumble .. just being there holding on and walking this journey of hers by her side will mean more then you'll ever know ... my lad is walking my path with me, weather it's long or short .. as a mum, l couldn't wish for more ...

Sending you a vertual hug ... Chrissie  x

  • Thanks Chrissie

i totally intend to walk this path with her

She started Chemo Monday but now has a water infection and is in hospital

its tough but we will keep fighting together x

  • Hold on in there ... it's one of the hardest things we do in life ... but one day you'll look back and be proud you did ..

Fingers crossed for your mum ...  keep in touch ... big hug as always ... Chrissie
