In April I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and had a laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovaries and tubes on May 14th. I was in hospital overnight and it took about four weeks for me to recover. Heavy lifting was a definite no-no in that time so things like shopping were difficult on my own. However after a couple of days I was able to do most everyday things as long as a I took my time,I am retired so I didn’t need to worry about getting back to work. Some days I felt tired and other days not. I just had to be guided by what my body told me. In that time I did cope with a wound infection ( I have been type 1 diabetic on insulin injections for 56 years so this was not unexpected). Even with my other health issues recovery time was good. The cancer was removed during that operation and everything was sent to histology for testing. Further treatment needs are assessed after histology results which I imagine would be the same in your case, My follow up appt was two weeks after my surgery. On leaving hospital I had to wear compression stockings for four weeks and take blood thinning injections once a day for four weeks. I had my surgery at an NHS hospital where my surgeon anaesthetist and nursing staff were caring and I felt on my side.
