Pre cancerous cells in breast

Hi, I was told a week ago that I have pre cancerous cells in my right breast and need to have a mastectomy. I'm still reeling a bit  but trying to take things a step at a time.

Right now, I'm wondering if having pre cancerous cells in one part of the body means there may be more elsewhere? I'm struggling to believe that I'll simply have the breast removed and reconstructed and that's that if you know what I mean?

    Hi Louise,

I was taking Evening Primrose when I was first diagnosed too. My consultant immediately advised me to stop taking this and, I have seen this advice given out quite frequently to others in the 12 years since. I see that your radiologist suggested this. Have you also discussed this with your consultant? I was told that this affects the action of hormone therapies.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Louise, I'm so sorry I didn't see your post before now, I haven't logged in for a very long time! How are you doing yourself, are you keeping well?

  • Hi All,

I was diagnosed in July this year  had cancerous 6mm tumour and pre cancerous cell picked up on my first mammogram appointment. Had surgery 5weeks ago to remove tumour and pre cancer cells , pathology report has came back to say that cancer is all gone but more pre cancer cells have shown up Lymph nodes are clear . Now waiting to go for a mastectomy and reconstruction , been told it's the only way to make sure all the pre cancer is out as they didn't show up on any images . Also I have been told I won't need any radiotherapy after this but will be put on tamoxifen , I'm so worried that after macetomy they will tell me different and making myself feel sick with worry.
