Adenoid cystic carcinoma

my partner was diagnosed with ACC yesterday it’s large aggressive tumour in his cheek and top of spine and close to brain. He was on waiting list for 8 months to be seen. Looking it up the prognosis is not good but we waiting to see neuro surgeon to see if it’s operable or not.  Feeling devastated just wanted some advice as I will be his carer will I need to give up work will we receive any help financially ?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Mimi1969.

I'm sorry to read that your partner had been diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma but fingers crossed the neurosurgeon will face it's operable.

I know you're wanting to find out more about the financial side of things so I just wanted to signpost you to the coping practically section on our website which has information about what financial support you may be able to receive if you are going to become a full time carer. Macmillan have financial advisors you can chat to so it may be worth giving them a call and having a look at the carers uk website as well.

I hope this helps Mimi and I wish you both the best on this journey.

    Kind regards,
