So sorry to read about your news. The answer is "it depends". For example, I've been living with Stage 4 cancer of the oesophagus with mets in distant organs since early 2014 after having palliative chemo and a dismal prognosis. I've also known other people who haven't survived longer than a few weeks after receiving the same prognosis. This is why doctors are so reluctant to estimate how long someone has.
An individual's age, physical fitness and whether or not they have other medical issues all seem to play a part, as does luck.
