Papillary thyroid cancern after Hodgkins disease

Hi all,

11 years ago (I was 25) I aws diagnised with HD stage 2A. Luckily after treatment with ABVD I was given the all clear, no issues since and importantly no radiation.

Just over a week ago I was diagnosed with early papillary thyroid cancer and booked in for a partial thyroidectomy in September.

Anyway... anyone else had papillary following HL and NOT had any radiation as part of their HD treatment?

  • Welcome to the forum sab275uk.

I'm sorry you're now contending with a second cancer diagnosis after getting the all clear 11 years ago after treatment for hodgkins lymphoma.

I haven't been able to find anyone on the forum that has been on the same journey as yourself but I thought I would signpost you to this discussion in case you'd like to chat to any of our members on there about their experience with papillary thyroid cancer. We have some information about this diagnosis on our website just here as well.

I hope this helps sab275uk and I wish you all the best with your partial thyroidectomy in September.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks Steph, surgery on Wednesday.

It does feel very strange this time round. As a cancer this is far less agressive and curable, but I do fear having the whole gland removed, if there is some spread given how important it is!

    Thanks
