I'm really sorry you've just found out you have stomach cancer but I'm glad you've joined us here on the forum as you'll find many other members coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis and now that I've replied I'm sure some of them will stop by soon to say hello and have a chat.

I'm not sure how much you know about stomach cancer but I'm just including a link here to a section we have about it on our website in case you wanted to find out more. Our cancer nurses are available to chat to during the week if you have any questions about your diagnosis as well. Their lines are open weekdays between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.

Sorry to hear that you’re in this situation, it’s a shame you had to go private but at least things are now moving. 

Ive just been diagnosed with stomach cancer also, on Tuesday in fact. I had a CT scan on Wednesday and will see my consultant on Tuesday to find out the next step. 

its a scary place at the moment, my head is all over the place I’m only 46 with 2 kids so I have to be here for them. 

Ive no advice just wanted to say hi and I understand x 

Oh I really feel for you... I found out after a endoscopy three weeks ago... been to A&E last week being sick blood and very out of breath... gave me a blood transfusion and that made me feel better for a short time.. going tomorrow for bloods and pre op before going in on Wednesday for another endoscopy and exploratory keyhole surgery to see what they face... I'm so scared but trying to be positive also...

I wish your dad all the luck in the world.

I'm going tomorrow for my treatment plan... it has seemed like forever waiting.. I had keyhole surgery and a third endoscopy to see what they are dealing with.. I've started beeing sick most days and finding it really hard to eat much.. I have a horrible taste in my mouth that tastes like a pig pen smells... did your dad experienced this at all... how was the chemo? And how long did it last?

Hi Ann

My dad found it very difficult to eat/swallow also & was almost choking on anything. He got x4 rounds of flot intense chemo (once every 2 weeks) he done 108 hours in total. He had nausea & tiredness throughout this but other than that nothing major. My dad took lifemel honey throughout his treatment & it really did help boost his immune system.  Since finishing chemo he can now eat anything like he used to, no problems at all.

He did say he had a strange metallic like taste in mouth at one point, this is a side affect i think it can be common? But soon passes. Ginger sweets/tea can help & also will help stop sickness.

It was over 8cm and also wide tumour & in around 3 lymph nodes. 

The surgeon didnt give it a number stage, they just said it was in the middle as this type of cancer is difficult to stage.

He has to get a total gastrectomy (whole stomach) & possibly part of esophagus removed. We are very anxious as obviously this is major surgery, he gets it in 3 weeks time. Although I have read alot of stories on here people who have had this and still live normal lives.

Where is it you are being treated? We stay in Scotland x
