Worried

Hi, my partner who is a very healthy, fit 53year has this week had his biopsy results back showing a Gleason result of 3+4 (7) and a grade 2 cancer . He has been told that he will have to have his prostrate removed. Has anyone had an similar experience and how was everything afterwards ?

  • Welcome to the forum HayP although I'm sorry for the reason you've joined us.

I know you're looking to hear from others that may have experience of having a prostate removed or supporting someone that has so I've had a quick look around the forum and found some members you may like to talk to about this.

[@urostar]‍ had his prostate removed 15 years ago and [@kwh]‍ had his operation last month. [@Ange1234]‍'s dad has had this done as well as [@Clare123]‍'s husband 10 years ago and now that I've mentioned them all in this post they will hopefully share their experiences with you when they have a spare moment.

We do have some information on our website about this as well if you'd like to have a look but do give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to have a chat with someone about this. Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Best wishes to you both,
