Newly diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi everyone, I have been diagnosed with DCIS High Grade breast cancer today and I know I am very lucky to have had it picked up at such an early stage. I am scared of the High Grade bit as I understand that it means it is fast growing and likely to turn invasive. I will discuss this with my consultant next week but I wondered if anyone can help me settle my mind a little? I will be having a lumpectomy apparently. Many thanks xx

    Hi fazza ..

    Your in good company here... lots of us breast lasses .. so I'm sure others will pop by ... we all felt like you early on ... it's the unknown ... and every emotion washes over you ... but that's really normal ...

    One lady helped me through those early scary days ... then slowly others joined in... and wer all different stages and different treatments ... I had a grade 3 her 2 neg, oestrogen positive ... and I had a total right mastectomy lady July. . The op its self was a lot easier then I'd imagined... but under my armpit where they took lymph node was a little more achy ... some are home that same day ... I only needed paracetamol. . Rilleyroo was home with a cupper that night .. so it isn't as scary as we think in our heads 

    I don't want to overwhelm you, but feel free to ask anything ... I'm here most days ... I'm a year on now, so is rilleyroo, and wer doing well ... and our newer lasses are all around .. cournishpastie is great at making people less anxious ... hopefully they'll pop by .. so sending you a big vertual hug ... chrissie x

    I thought I had responded to your reply yesterday but I see it hasn't worked..

    Thanks so much for replying to me, I am really glad this forum is here so I can connect with people going through (or have gone through) similiar experiences.

    I am feeling a little more settled now, the shock has cleared and I have written down a list of questions to ask my consultant next week. Stupid as it sounds, I feel a little more in control just for sorting my mind a little and writing stuff down.

    I know I am very lucky for it to be found so early and I am very grateful for that but it is still good to know that I can come here and ask for advice.

    Any time ... it's just getting the right balance ... and there's always someone on here .. and yes taking questions with you and writing down the answers as trust me, it will all go over your head ... 

    And if there's anything you don't understand, tell them to explain .. coz they deal with this every day , luckily we don't ...  so when your ready, I'll send my vertual boxing gloves over, put them on, and grab this cancer by the short and curlies ... and I know cancer doesn't want us to fell positive or ready to take it on .. it wants us cowering in a corner ... well bend, but we won't Brake ... chrissie x
