Really Delayed Results

My specialist identified a strongly suspected basal cell carcinoma on my back around the start of April and I had it removed and sent off for tests on 30th April.

Around 10 weeks have now passed and I have not had any results back (I have chased). I was told 2-3 weeks when I had the procedure done.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of delay in Berkshire? What should have been simply an agonising wait is being turned into something much more mentally damaging through lack of information.

  • Hi I’m new on here but I do work in the NHS and my son has been diagnosed with lymphoma today after being in remission for 18months.

my advice is “bang on the door” “ shout loudest”

this advice is not what I would usually recommend of course but you need your answers as waiting is worse than knowing.

keep badgering your Hospital and GP.

    i hope this works.

    I wish you well x

  • Golly, the delay sounds unacceptable. If the hospital has a PALS team,(patient advice and liaison service) try contacting them and saying you're unhappy. They can often find things out on your behalf.

If you've tried GP, consultant's secretary, PALS, head of department, then it may be time to contact a local councillor/MP. I know you don't need this on top of health issues. So hope things are dealt with soon.
