Grade 4 glioblastoma

Hello I'm just after some advice and somewhere to get things off my chest. My fiance has just been diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma. It's come as a huge shock as he's only 28 years of age. I keep reading statistics on life expectancy and it's terrifying me. We have a boy aged 5 and I honestly don't know what I'd do without him. I feel this is all so unfair and I'm so angry about it all. Is it normal to feel this way? How did others cope with treatment etc?

  • Hello Jade24 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear your fiance has just been diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma at such a young age. I can imagine it was a shock for you both and that you currently feel angry about it all. Others on the forum have previously posted about their experience of supporting their partner through Grade 4 Glioblastoma and have shared their experience here. If you do a search on the forum for Glioblastoma you will be able to find other threads on this particular type of brain tumour and to respond to any if you wish.

You can, for example, read [@carin11]‍ 's story here and reading her About Me she found herself two years ago in a very similar situation to that you are describing. There is also another lady who replied on that thread [@Mandymops]‍ who would also know only too well what you are going through at the moment and they may have some tips to help you and your partner cope with the treatment. We also have some information on treatment for brain tumours here and if you have anything you want to discuss, don't hesitate to ring our team of nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope you'll hear from others soon who have had a similar diagnosis.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
