I can't take any more bad news

My dad is being diagnosed with Esophagus cancer and cancer on his pancreas. He is in hospital with fluid on one of his lungs and is on antibiotics. Not had a detailed diagnosis yet as his case is being referred to Liverpool. Just learn't tonight that Liverpool are not going to operate, but going to use radiotherapy and chemotherapy. This has being such a shock with the cancer diagnosis. He was fine a month ago. I keep thinking he is going to die. Everthing with this illness is moving so quickly, everyday is bringing a problem. I can't take much more bad news. I don't want him to die. Thankyou for listening.

  • Hello and welcome to the forum.  I am sorry that you - like so many people here - have received bad news about your dad.  But don't panic.  I am attaching a link to some information from this website which tells  you a lot about oesophageal cancer and the various treatments available.   I do hope this will be useful and you will understand the various possibilities that are available.  I hope your family will all support each other and help your dad through this.  I don't know how much your dad wants to talk about his illness - whatever he wants remember he is the same dad you have loved and support him in his decisions.   I hope that others who have been through a similar experience with a loved one will come along and chat with you also.  Annie

PS The link seems to have disappeared into thin air so am sending it again.
