Delirium lung cancer

Hi all, 

new to this site, my mother was diagnosed a few days ago with lung cancer, it is in both lungs. It has been a long weekend and ee are waiting for the latest info on her broncoscopy test. She is becoming gradually paranoid, thinking the ward is a set up and that the staff and patients are all actors scheming against her. No one is telling us why this is, she is very tired, sleeping a lot...does this mean she is dying? I know that ultimately she is but would like to know if anyone one else has a loved one going through a similar situation. We are just not getting info from anyone...worried, thanks!

  • Welcome to the forum Pokaa although I'm sorry to read about your mother's diagnosis and how she's acting at the moment.

    It must be very frustrating when no-one is telling you anything. Her medical team may be waiting until they get the results from her latest test before committing to saying why your mother may be behaving this way. I'm not sure when your mum is getting her results but I hope you don't have too much longer to wait and are finally able to get some answers when the time comes.

    We have a few members that have been in similar situations with their parents and loved ones and hopefully some of them will reply when they can to share their experiences and advice.     Hi,  I'm new here too. My 70 year old mum was diagnosed a week ago based on CT Scan with lung cancer. She's having the biopsy tomorrow to confirm what is going on exactly. Although she doesn't seem to be in the same state as yours she is confused, and sleeping a lot. I think the lack of oxygen has had a huge impact. Luckily they've delivered oxygen to her house, so she seems a little more compus mentus (not sure of spelling). Maybe once your mums doctors know more they'll be able to help out with all her symptoms better.

     

    will keep you posted if I learn anything about the sleepiness, and if that is a worrying sign.
