Bone cancer

Hi there

My partner has been having problems with his back and long story short today we were told they think he has bone cancer which, judging from the CT scan has probably spread to his lungs. I had suspected cancer from things they said a few days ago but we had been told the mass was on his muscle so the bone cancer has come as a shock. I am struggling to stay positive and he is mainly struggling with the pain. We are seeing the sarcoma team soon for an official diagnosis and next steps regarding treatment. Any advice on how to get through the next few days would be appreciated.

  • Hi Kirsty,

I'm really sorry to read that your partner has suspected bone cancer which may have spread to his lungs. It's understandable that you both may be struggling with this news but I just want you to know you are not alone. Many of our members have been in similar situations and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their support and share their advice with you on how to get through the next few days. Our cancer nurses usually advise trying to stay busy or finding ways or things to distract yourself so do try giving this a go if you can as it will help the time to pass more quickly.

I hope the meeting with the sarcoma team goes well and that your partner has a treatment plan set in place soon.

Best wishes to you both at this difficult time,
