Hello all,
I am just getting onto here for the first time, I have no real idea what is going on. I have a colonoscopy 18 months ago and it came back clear since then I started to pass blood so requested another one, I went in for it 2 weeks ago and they said they found a large polyp and they needed to biopsy it and sent me for a CT and MRI scan.
I had my MRI this Monday and got called for an appointment I went in and they said the biopsy had shown abnormal cells. He said he thought it was rectal cancer and the lump showed a small % of abnormal cells - I don't know what that means?
Either way, he said I had to have an operation. He then sent me to a surgeon straight after my appointment. When I went to see the surgeon he said he thought it was bowel cancer because of the location and the CT and MRI showed it was nowhere else and the polyp showed a small % of cancer (what does that mean?)
He said I am going to have an operation on June 6th to remove that piece of bowel and sew it back together and depending on location after a meeting I may need a temporary bag or may not I said and what after that? and he said depending on what they remove I may need treatment or may not?
Has anyone else been through this? does this sound very bad? I am very lost and overwhelmed.
Thank you
