Grade 4 Glioblastoma

Hi guys, just checking in. My mum was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma in Jan. She is remarkable, 15 radiotherapy treatments, some hair loss, short term memory loss, mobility impairment et c. Completely amazed by my mum's strength of character & zest for life. I am completely positive , moving forward, and completey in touch with reality but understand the outcomes of this diagnosis. Anyone out there that can give me some knowledge? I know that my mum's prognosis is a bit bleakm xx

  • Hello Chewie80 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat

Your mum does sound like a great character and I am pleased to hear she is doing so remarkably well. I am sure your support means a lot to her too.

We have some information on our site on Grade 4 Glioblastoma (also called astrocytoma) which I hope will be useful to you. You can find out more about it here.

If you live in the UK, feel free to contact our nurses if you have any specific questions. They will be very happy to help. You can reach them on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope your mum's treatment goes well and that she doesn't suffer too many side effects.

    Best wishes,

  • Is your mam having chemo too

my mum is having 6 session of radiotherapy over 2 weeks for the same condition. Just don’t understand why everyone’s treatment is so different. My mums prognosis is bleak too.

    My mum just doesn’t understand.
