Diagnosed with colon cancer which has spread to liver

Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with colon cancer - 15 cm from rectum and I just found out last week that this has spread to my liver - three small ones (mm in size) have been found. I’ll be starting chemotherapy for the liver and then radiotherapy afterwards for the colon cancer, although the hope is that the chemotherapy will help shrink the colon cancer, so I’ll need to do is have surgery to remove the cancer. 

 

What i would like to know is that is there a particular chemotherapy drug that is more effective, with fewer side effects? What are the likely outcomes of chemotherapy for this secondary cancer: cure?

    Hi Ibadan,

    I'm so sorry that you have bowel cancer speading to your liver.

    I have no experience in this but  I am bumping up your post to see if any others can help in some way.

    Hey buddy, I’ve been up all night reading about colon cancer... my missis has too been diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to the lung and liver.. she is currently on folfiri chemo.. it’s the best that they can offer she has had 9 session and was ok until 3 days ago it’s hit her hard!!! FOLFIRI SEEMS to be the best option it’s very strong but it does the job... her tumours have shrunk by 50% the doctors are shocked!!! However it seems this just extends life.... saying that I read about a women that has liver for 18 years with colon cancer not bad at all considering she was given up to 2 years!!! Fingers crossed mate x
