Sudden Stomach Cancer Of Parent

Hi, Im very new to this and looking for any advise.

Last week my dad went to get a routined endoscopy and out of the blue the Drs told us they have found a 8 to 10cm malignant growth beside his esophagus,  they are treating it as stomach cancer.

My dad had digestive pains every now and then after sometimes eating meals but he has no other major symptoms and overall is a very fit healthy normal 54 year old guy.

Me, my sister and brother are all in our 20s we are very worried and fearing the worst loosing our father.

Has anyone ever been in a similar situation?

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hi there ... so sorry your dad's had a cancer diagnosis .... I've got a breast cancer so can't help with your question ... but hopefully someone will pop on soon with more info ...

It's o.k to worry, but try not to panic ... easier said then done ... but with your support your dad will have someone there, helping him on his cancer path ... he will probably feel as lost and confused as you ...

As someone with cancer, the way l have coped is by not looking at the worse case sinario ... it's overwhelming and will stop you being able to cope ... try to live in the day ... take one problem as and when it comes up ... try not to say "what if" ... it's normal for you all to have those feelings ... but it's about, once the shock has gone ... pulling together ... everyone holding on together ...

It's about admitting your all scared ... but there's lots of us on here, that are pushing boundaries .... and leading a normal life as possible around cancer ... not letting it control you ... you can do this ...

Hopefully you'll get more support on here soon ...  Dave, telemando, and taff are great at helping you through this, as they can give the male side of things ... so take care ... Chrissie x

  • Thank you very much for your advise Chris.

Yes we are all hoping and praying.

I hope you are keeping well too
