Bowel cancer diagnosis

Hi everyone

Just found this site as I’m constantly googling ,(said I would never do this) but diagnosed two weeks ago stage 3. For someone who never visits gp, ticks all right boxes eg don’t drink/smoke /not obese, I’m finding all this info and appointments very overwhelming.

About two months ago I was at work comforting my boss who was in bits as his wife had just been diagnosed with hormonal stage 3 breast cancer , then a few weeks later he’s comforting me !

The only way I’m coping is talking to friends , but broke my heart to tell my children.

I have 4 children my youngest is 12 my eldest is 27 and a nurse but our whole world has been turned upside down.

thank you for reading xx

  • Hi Angie

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

Yes. It is weird. One minute a comforter then suddenly an unwilling member of the other side.

Behind all the anxiety and worry, I found a strange sense of how wonderful life is.  The sky seemed more intense, things all were different.

It's enlightening to come here and experience such diverse experiences of this cruel disease. It's very helpful to express yourself and receive  encouragement from those who really know.

Cancer is not so unusual unfortunately and it is good to have a place to chat with likeminded souls.

Very best of wishes for your treatment.

    David
