    Hi Jay,

I see that you are fairly new to Cancer Chat, so I extend a very warm welcome.

You have made a start in introducing yourself. What you do on the forum is up to you. Some people just like to read other peoples' posts. Others want help, advice, information and support. Others find it helpful to reply to posts and share their experiences.

If you want more support, it would be helpful if you could share a little of the type and stage of cancer you have.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer. The first was 8 years ago and the second was the following year. I have had tremendous advice and support from people on this site. It is great to be able to talk with others who know exactly what you are going through.

We look forward to further posts from you and please remember that we are always here for you.

    Knd regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Jay,

It sounds as if you have had a tough time since September. I'm sorry to hear about the urine infections - these can really pull you down.

After cancer surgery the tumour is sent to pathology to ensure that the surgeon has removed all of the mass present, plus a margin around the lesion.

In some cases it is not possible to remove all of a tumour because it is to close to an important organ, but the  pathology report will report this if need be.

It sounds as if your doctor was telling you good news when he said that your margins are clear. This is usually an indication that your cancer was contained within that margin and that your tumour has been removed. Now comes another anxious waiting time to see if it grows back again. I suspect that you will be brought back for further tests in a few months time.

Medical jargon can be quite daunting to us non-medical people. Never be afraid of asking a doctor to explain exactly what something means if you are uncertain. You really do need to understand everything involved with your cancer journey, if you are to be the one in charge.

I sincerely hope that you continue to stay clear of cancer and keep well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
