My husband has been diagnosed with grade 4 brain tumour

My beloved husband has been diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour. The only symptoms he had were bad headaches and a difficulty pronouncing certain words. He had brain surgery where they removed a large fluid filled cyst and some of the tumour. They could not remove the majority of the tumour as it would lead to stroke and paralysis. He recovered from surgery remarkably well and quickly with no ill effect Thank God. He is due to start a six week course of radiation and chemo followed by 6 months of chemo by tablet. We where told that it I inoperable and incurable and given a life expectancy of 18 months.

we are hoping to prove the doctors wrong. My question is had anyone here with similar illness proven doctors wrong and lived way beyond the given period of life expectancy.

we have to hope for the best in order to live through this torment

  • Hi to everyone, just posting this to hopefully give a lift to one and all.

I mention my Wife last year, she was diagnosed with grade 4 glioma last September (2020). Consultants gave her 12-18 months. After having the tumour removed and going through 6 weeks of radio, the daily chemo was cancelled after about 2 weeks (meant to be 6) due to an adverse reaction. Sue was due to have a further 6 months of chemo but that was cancelled as well. We just had the 4th MRI which was very positive with no evidence of cancer cells, next one in January. Sue is fit and well, eats all the food I cook and is in good humour. She does struggle with tiredness and can get annoyed very easily, just the way it is. We just take things one day at a time, and keep positive. Not sure what the future holds for us, just happy for what we have got today.

Be strong everyone, keep going no matter how tough the world seems to be. Look to the sun always.

  • Hi can I ask how you are ? Your post sounds so familiar to me. I am looking after my husband and I feel out of my depth

  • Hey Teresa, I noticed you trying to get in touch with Mheffe.

I've just looked at their profile and can see they haven't been on the forum since 2018 so I don't think you'll be hearing back from them I'm afraid.
