Small cell lung cancer

Hi, I'm new to all this, my mum has just been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer to which they are starting chemo next week it's so much to take in they advised her not to Google it bit I did and I just need to know what we are dealing with the hospital hasn't said how long or what stage but I do know that it is also in my mums' bones and liver. Has anyone got any advise on this sort of cancer and what to expect? Thanks in advance

  • Hi Pink blossom

I noticed you havent had a reply so i thought I would say hello and welcome to cancer chat. I hope you find support here. My life was effected by lung cancer when my husband was diagnosed  in 2015 and I chose not to search Dr Google. Instead we took each day as it came. Enjoyed every moment we could in each others company and chose reliable sources of information like cancer research, macmillan and the roy castle lung cancer foundation. Google will bring up their support phone line numbers if you need to speak with somebody about your mum's disease. Your mum's named nurse should also be able to answer questions but my experience of them was that they're over run with work and often don't have a deal of time.

My daughter and I attended every appointment that Neil had - having extra ears in these meetings is invaluable as you sometimes don't take in everything that's being said - if your mum's ok with that. I'm sure her doctors won't mind.

    Sending love
