Lung cancer secondary bone cancer

Hi  everyone

My dad has had back pain since Christmas. Doctors did various X-rays on his lower back and pelvis saying he has nothing wrong with him.  On the morning of 29th March my dad could not stand the pain any longer and called for an ambulance. After about 3 hrs they were going to discharge him, after my annoyance with this they had a bone person look at him and immediately did an MRI.  At 4 pm a dr came to my dads bed and told him and everyone else who was there that he had spine/bone cancer - we were and still are in shock - on good Friday, the day after he started radiotherapy on his spine but only to relieve pain and only had 5 sessions - we have had no input as yet from anyone - he was discharged after the last radiotherapy (thursday) and given a cocktail of meds - his discharge summary states, ‘lung cancer with secondary bone cancer’ palliative radiotherapy 5 sessions (now completed) how long has he got ? I’m feeling very unsure about what ‘should’ happen - my mum has fallen apart and we’re struggling with this diagnosis - he went in for back pain! Feel very let down currently, I feel for everyone on here that has shared their story, so similar in many ways - hugs to you all

  • As I noticed this is your first post with us, Kerry49, I just wanted to stop by and give you a warm welcome to the forum.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis, it sounds like this has been an incredibly stressful situation for all of you but I hope you will find some comfort here with us, chatting with people who can understand what you are going through.

Feel free to post as much as you need, even if all you need is a good rant. There is always someone here to listen.
