Low grade gliomas

Hi all,

well this is a post a never thought I’d be writing!

last week my health and fit 31 year old husband had a seizure out of the blue. From this we’ve been told he has a low grade gliomas. It’s on the left side and is deeper than thought.

Hes having surgery in the next 3/4 weeks. But the location means they can’t remove all.

hes going to be awake in the surgery.

hes really worried he’s going to lose speech and or movement. As there is a 5% risk of each.

we also have two small children (g5years, b21months)

hes worries that after surgery he’s not going to be the same again and be able to run/play football with the kids etc.

hes also worried that the tumour can’t fully be removed that it’ll grow back and we have to do this all again.

Has anyone gone through the same?

Its been a whirl whirl wind of emotions and lots of information in a week.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, NatC.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband, what a difficult situation this must be for all of you.

Hopefully, some of our members who can relate to your husband's situation will come along shortly to share their stories with you and give advice. Until you hear from them though there is some information on our website about glioma in adults you might find interesting to read, so I'm linking it here.I hope this can be of some use.

Wishing you and your husband the very best,
