Hi Debra,
I am sorry to hear that you are having anxiety about this procedure. I had stage 2A cervical cancer (5 years ago) and did have both internal and external radiation. I think it was 25 or 26 external and 6 internal (Brachytherapy). I will tell you now that you can do it. It is not "pleasant" but it is bearable. It seems like mine took about an hour or so, from prep to actually getting the treatment. You have to lay still but you could probably listed to music. I am Catholic so I prayed the rosary and also prayed for the doctors and nurses that were helping me. Let me know if you need to talk or have more questions - feel free to ask anything you want. Be strong, you got this!

Thank you Laura for responding, This anxiety I’m having is horrible They got the results from the MRI and they say it has spread to my lymph node, vagina and pelvic walls Stage 3 , I had the mapping & tattoos for radiation and I begin Tuesday with Chemo & Radiation , because it was worse then they thought they are adding additional chemo a stronger , They told me that I would have to stay over night at the hospital for the internal radiation and to be honest I feel better about being watched and given pain medication if I needed , Were you in terrible pain as did you stay over night ? What was given , so scared I’m mother of three daughters and just feel sick to my stomach about everything, can’t sleep or rest my mind h, I guess no choices here , just don’t want any more pain
.
Hi Debra,
I had chemo, too, along with the radiation. My treatments were outpatient but I wouldn't have minded staying in, like you said, to be observed and taken care of. I had more pain before treatment and it started lessening with treatment, as the cancer was killed. It kicked my butt with tiredness but I just rested as much as I could. See if you can get on an anti-anxiety medication while you wait for things to get started, that would help. You got this!
