older person with cancer

I'm finding it hard coping with cancer diagnosis. Chemotherapy is very hard for me. I am older than some. Maybe some of you are having a very.hard time?

With it all.

  • Hi there Lily. . And welcome to our little chat room ... well there's a few of us young at heart lasses ... but what age is old?   I'm 63... (cand wait to sing the Beatles song, when I'm 64)

I'm a breast cancer lady ... what one have you ?  I found it easier being my age... as my heart goes out to others with children still at home ... or the young ones who are just starting out on life ... yet they seem to cope better then others ... I'm in awe of all of them ...

I'm not in a hurry to go, but I've been so blessed in my life, I'm ready for what fate has in store ... but right now I'm here .. making the most of every day... just pleased to be here ... I had my mastectomy last July... and I'm quite at ease with it ... but still have an occasional low day ... all those feelings are normal ... it's the fear of the unknown ... and having no control ... but there's a fare few of us on here, pushing those boundaries .... trying to kick cancers bum right down the road ...

So hold on in there ... wer all walking beside you ... you just can't see us ... think of every day as a gift ... do things you like on good days .. try not to look too far ahead .. lots of us try to live in the day ... and this is a wonderfull place to just say how you feel... we do know all those feelings ...

Take care ... your braver then you realise ... you've already come a long way ... Chrissie

  • i am also older nearly 63 and have just beeen diagnosed with rectal but am taking it very positively only because i belive this is a test and each one on this earth has to give one in diffrent ways so hang in there and the more you remain positive the easier it will get. just like chrissie says.

  • Hi there rowanberry....

Just wanted to say hi ... Just seen you have no family there and your a grade 3 lady , like myself ... It's a hard ol journey even with family support, and I was lucky to have those amazing family members...

I just want you to know, your not alone ... There's quite a few of us here.... And we will support you all the way .... I will send you a friend request and it's your choice if you would like a buddy but I'll be there if ever you do need someone to chat too ...

They are a grate bunch of BREAST FRIENDS  on here and hopefully they will pick you up along the way .. if you start a new thread and say starting out with breast cancer I'm sure they will pop by ... We were all where you are now ... Waiting , and believe me it is doable ... Chrisie xx
