Anyone been on trial to detect if hormone therapy is sufficient without chemo?
Hi Jess,
I am not on any trials, but thought that I would reply to your post because you were asking if anyone had hormone therapy alone as treatment for breast cancer.
I was diagnosed with mucinous breast cancer 8 years ago. I had a lumpectomy and took Tamoxifen for a year. I was advised to have radiotherapy after surgery, but due to procedural delays, this never came to pass.
I then found another lump in the same breast a year later. This was another primary cancer of the same type. This time I had a double mastectomy followed by Letrozole for 6 years. I stopped taking this last July.
I am not a medic, but I suspect that whether or not this treatment is likely to work will depend upon the type of breast cancer you have. Fortunately, my cancer is rare, only 1% of people get it and it is one of the less aggressive forms of the disease. It was also grade 1 with no nodal involvement.
Hope that this helps,
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
