Waiting for Lymph node results

Hi I'm Fliss. I was diagnosed early Feb and had a mastectomy with lymph nodes removed 9th March. I have grade 3 ER & PR negative breast cancer and have to wait until 28th for my lymph results. After talking to a breast cancer Nurse I will most likely need chemo. It seems a long time to wait for results (19 day) is this normal?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat FlissA although I'm sorry for the reason you find yourself with us.

If you're concerned about the length of time you're having to wait for your results do think about getting in touch with your GP or medical team as they may be able to chase this up for you and update you on the situation.

You can have a chat with our cancer nurses about this as well. They're available Monday - Friday betwen 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040 so do give them a call if you feel chatting to them will help.

Many of our members know how difficult it is waiting for results and I'm sure some of them will reply soon to share their experience and advice.

Do let us know the results when you get them Fliss, we'll be thinking of you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi, well yesterday I received my results. My whole prognosis has changed. After being told I had grade 3 ER & PR breast cancer I had a right side mastectomy.

My 2 lymph nodes were negative but I DON'T have breast cancer. I have Non Hogkins lymphoma in the breast.

The Lymphoma was 40mm in size. It is B Cell  with positive T3 cells.

B Cell Lymphoma's affect B Cells. Lymphomas are Blood Cancers in the Lymph nodes.

The Lymphoma is currently being 'Staged' on a scale of 1-4 for its aggression with the The Specialist Lymphoma Panel.

In the next two weeks I will have the CT Scan, Blood Test results and staging results to be given an idea of 'what next'.  As it is a rare cancer I don't know anyone to discuss details with who have been in the same position. Are there any fellow sufferers/survivors out there?

    Hi Fliss,

I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.

There are a number of people on this site who have Non Hodgkins lymphoma in the breast. If you use the search engine on the blue banner at the top of this page and insert ‘Non Hodgkins lymphoma in the breast’, you will bring up previous posts on this subject. I hope that you will find some of these useful.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Fliss,

I know it's been a little while since you made this post so I apologise for the delay in getting back to but I've finally had a chance to have a proper look through the forum to see if I could find other members who have the same or a similar diagnosis and found two members - [@singalass66]‍ and [@Seabird]‍. They aren't as active on the forum as they used to be but hopefully now I've mentioned them in this post they'll pop back when they can to say hello and share their experiences with you.

You should be able to find out more about your diagnosis, and find others in the same situation as yourself, on the Lymphoma Action website as well so do have a look when you can.

I hope this helps Fliss and that things are going well since you last posted.

    Kind regards,
