Dads cancer diagnosis

my dad had just been diagnosed with pancreatic  cancer. He has only found out today so I don’t want to bombard him with questions but I have lots of answers I need.

He had a biopsy last week and received the results today that he has pancreatic cancer but they need to run more tests to find out how bad it is I think he said? What are these tests and how long will they take?

Im really worried as my dad has custody of my ten year old niece too and I don’t know where to turn for help.

when will we know if he can be treated or not?

  • Hi I can't answer your questions as it's not clear from your post which cancer he has been diagnosed with prostrate ot pancreatic. However, as to your niece and as an ex safeguarding social worker your best bet is to contact children's services and ask for advice. Your father could and would probably be better to consult a solciitor specialising in Family Law (financial implications as it's classed as private law).  This is a bit premature as he hasn't had the full results yet. However, I urge that your niece's legal position is sorted sooner rather than later. Sadly, if it isn't social services will become involved and create a lot of unstability for your niece's future. So sorry I can't be more helpful

  • Sorry it is pancreatic cancer not Prostate. If I ring social services will they not just take her away?
