Just been diagnosed

Just been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer . They said there was no lymph nodes included but they still want to remove some when operating ! I feel really ill all of a sudden so tired as I can't sleep and feel shaky all the time ! I keep thinking cancer has spread and that's why I'm feeling rough !! Come some one please just talk to me

  • Hi .... as hard as it is , keep busy ... do anything to take your mind off it .... and those feelings are so normal ... but the more positive you can be ... it will help ... have a good scream at it ... shout , yell , then when it's all let out , get your boxing gloves on and give that cancer a kick up the bum , coz cancer wants to see us brake and crumble ... it has no compation ... we may or may not knock it out, but kicking it down the road and sticking to fingers up to it is what a lot of us are doing ...

And later down the road you just well maybe on here, helping others where you are now ... thinking of you .... Chrissie

  • Morning deirdre

chin up lass. Great advice I took  everything one step/day at a time. Stop  thinking of all the could, would nd should haves nd deal with the here nd now.

i was diagnosed 10th of aug last yr- grade 2 breast cancer. 13wks nd 2 days later I was discharged on annual recall. In that time I had a few appts with surgeon, op ( day case in a  chair no bed home same day. Took 2 paracetamol - next day bit tender but no pain so  didn’t take any more paracetamol- went out t shops nd had a bar meal:). 8 days later saw surgeon who discharge me nd referred me to oncologist. Wk later started 5 days a wk for 3 wks radiotherapy- discharged. Everyone is different but for me no sickness no tiredness nd no low mood in short I was fine. 13 wks nd 2 days post diagnosis my life went back to normal. I am on letrozole 1 tablet a day- to help prevent it coming back.  Long may it work.

Good luck on your journey- u r not alone in this we r here if u want or need us x

  • Thank you so much Sandra for the support its given me some hope ! Just the waiting is driving me nuts !! You have done so well ! Xx

  • Not having a good morning ! Just got up and had to run to loo !! Heart racing ! Thinking all sorts !  Is my body still in shock or has this spread everywhere !! Feel like a zombie !! ️ ️

  • Oh dear ... bless ya ... think we all get panic days .. l had real melt down, when my son had to have tests, and although l dealt with everything else , just sobbed all day ... wanted to scream ... just couldn't cope with my baby (37 on mon) but thankfully not this *** cancer ...

I think once we have this diagnosis, no matter what stage we think every headache/cough / upset stomach could be it ... so it's natural to have these "not coping" days ... you can talk to a trained cancer nurse on McMillan or the number on here ... I did when l was waiting for op... they are so lovely and it was just nice to say how it was making me feel ...

Hold on hunny ... wer here with you ... x

  • Thanks again Chriss for your support think I'll call a nurse today sometime ! Going to go enjoy the snow first with my kids !! Hope your coping ok too with all that's happening very stressful ! Xx
  • This is the worst part really. The wheels will start rolling when you get your treatment plan, things might move faster than you thought possible.

  • Thanks Rilyroo I just hate the waking up in the morning feeling helpless ️But this support talking to you all is do good xx

  • It all feels a bit like it’s something that is being done around you rather than for you at this stage.
