I cant answer your particular question, but me and my hubby Tony are new on here too - he has just been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer - waiting for chemo is scarey as he has dramatic weight loss.  I had a hysterectomy at 28 (30 years ago) - due, not to cancer but to Endometriosis, Best thing I ever did, so I am well qualified to answer questions on that, and how to cope after the op. Do's and dont's etc.  get in touch if you want to ask - even if you think its the silliest thing - it wont be, because, I have asked it too and if you are worring then its not silly as its a concern ;)

Thanks for the reply Debby , also best wishes to your hubby with his treatment, it's very scary waiting for the hospital, to arrange things. Im having keyhole surgery hopefully soon.

Its mainly the waiting, because they said 2weeks and I'm  past that now.! Wish they hadn't said that word! 

Was it a quick recovery? Is itipainful after? They've told me nothing really!

Three weeks sounds OK,  reassuring thanks, hope to hear from them soon. You just imagine all sorts, while you're off work and not even the cancer nurse, called me back on Friday afternoon!

I did have youth on my side so my recovery was quick from the op! 

I found I got tired quickly, so did a little walking which helped with the wind and the rabbit dropping sized bowl movements.....pushed a supermarket trolly round the shops slowly as it was something to lean on.....couldnt believe how heavy a kettle weighed trying to fill it for a hot drink, so used a jug to fill it .......bathed in a drop of liquid savlon in the bath each day to help with the wounds....slept with a pillow on my side propped against my lower stomach as it felt like it would drop out.  My stupid imagination playing tricks on me, as it was obvioulsy not going to.....resorted to a panti girdle to give some feeling of support there even though I was only a size 10 then.  (Dont forget, in them days, you had a massive scar right across your bikini line)  I would say the trapped wind was the worst thing as it had to work it own way out as it wasnt trapped in the usual places!!  Good luck....the thought of the op is far worse than the actual event.

So sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis.  I wish you alll the best of luck and hope they get his chemo started asap.  I will be very interested to hear his journey and sending all positive thoughts!

I joined here because of my husbands diagnosis of Barretts with High Grade Dyplaysia.  Critical stage before the cells change further.  He has other symptoms being investigated.  I'm worried sick.

Well ....we will worry but be positive together then. As they say "you never find your rainbow looking down"
