Pancreatic cancer or lymphoma in pancreas

mom is 80. A week ago after months of tummy back pain etc they did a ct scan and said there’s a 7cm by 3.5 cm mass. We were all prepared for pancreatic cancer. Moms been in hospital since that day with lots of pain. She also had type 2 diabetes. Yesterday was the big meeting. Everyone assumed PC so was surprised when they said they can’t say it’s not PC but think more likely lymphoma.

Mom will have biopsy on Monday.

I’m so confused. Happy they think it’s not PC as it’s so aggressive. But it’s still cancer.

Mom was in hospital before Xmas as she has heart failure. How will that effect treatment?

Still feel in limbo and scared

  • Hello Jadeliza,

I just wanted to stop by and thank you for updating us on your mum's situation.

I can appreciate how confused you must be at the moment, on one hand it is good news that she was not diagnosed with pancreatic cancer but then again the possibility of it being lymphoma is also worrying, not to mention how poorly she's feeling.

You mentioned that she was to have a biopsy done today if I understood it correctly? Once you know more come back and let us know how it all went.

Also, if you feel like speaking with someone medically trained might help, our cancer nurses are available to take your call on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

    I hope this helps.

Best wishes to you and your mum,
