Unclear margins

I had a lumpectomy 3 weeks ago and sentinel node biopsy.

Today I was told I had unclear margins by a millimetre

plus the original tumour was 6-9 mm

and there were 3 other dots too not showing on ultrasound..

so I need a mri to check.

Then review treatment plan.

Def need an op for the margins.

Its stage 1 grade 2 oestrogen pos breast cancer.

A dot on the first lymph but that’s been removed.. anyone Been in this situation ?

Worried and scared.

  • Yes all in the ducts

    but small

    the whole area was 2.8cm.
was lucky as I had lumpectomy

My cancer was very lucky to be found

    very skilled radiographer

  • That year I had so many holidays lol

    always before a treatment

I delayed rads to go to France

My surgeon approved as he said it was good for me

    only saw an oncologist once

I still see my surgeon yearly

I will be discharged at 5 years

but I will pay for yearly mammogram after that as can't cope with 3 yearly

I have lots of friends who had this, all still here, all still fine.

if you don't have chemo I think it's a good thing.
I never complained about anything else as I was so happy not to have chemo.
i did the race for life during rads

make sure you cream the area before you go and when You get back

    it can get sore.
I used an aloe Vera gel and e45

  • Ps my lymph nodes were clear too

    you shouldn't need chemo

  • Hiya

thank you for all your messages

im 49 this year, I'm so worried we won't get a margin the 2nd time and feel so deflated as I had hoped it would be done and I could move to next step but hey ho

I go on Tues so they can check me out as they were really alarmed how much bruising I had (although it looks better than it it did!) I've been using arnica cream as well!!??

I will defo invest in the aloe Vera for radiotherapy, thank u for the tip

We are so worried re chemo but hopefully as you say it won't be necessary, I just want to get in the right side of this and let my body recover

it does sound like your mums up there looking out for you! I'm so pleased to hear your success story as it gives so much hope

    thank you

    love lucy x

  • Hi I was 49 too

There was a question mark over chemo for me but after all the results were in it was decided I didn't need it.
sounds like the same for you.

rads is fine. I have no side effects from having it.
    You will be ok

trust your team and trust your body.
I know it's easy to say but try not to worry.

it's an awful time as I know but now I feel great and I'm so so lucky.

  • Ps I was badly bruised too

my arm hurt the most. Do you use the cushion?

I also had to have mri before my second surgery as there was a concern there was more cancer not showing

    luckily there wasn't.
