Oesophageal cancer

Hi about six weeks ago i had a biopsies on a small  nodule in my esophagus i was then told i had high grade dysplasia and the nodule would be removed by emr.i went yesterday to have this done and was told by this doctor that the biopsie showed i had a carcinoma.but then to make matters worse the nodule wasnt removed as 2 different doctors couldn't find it.i wasnt given any explanation for this and all they did was take more biopsies.has anyone ever heard of this.im wondering why the first doctor told me i had high grade dysplasia and not carcinoma.the first doctor is now on annual leave.im worried sick over this.has anyone had this happen to them.

  • Hi Christine its good to hear from you and im glad you're doing well.sorry about you're fall from a chair if it had happened on new years eve I could have understood lol .good luck with the scan and blood tests.have you no further treatment planned?.yes my tests are taking a long time and just a constant worry no matter how hard I try not to think about it.I reckon that cancer has caused me as much stress mentally as well as physically.the last time I spoke to the doctor he told me im to have my barretts oesophagus treated with halo as well as the dysplasia I already have and as I have long segment barretts it will take another 4 or 5 halo treatments,at at least 2 month intervals.this is dependent on biopsy results and hopefully nothing else nasty will be found.please keep in touch annd let me know how you get on with the tests.take care.

    Best wishes James

  • Hi im really sorry to hear about you're dad.I know what a tough and stressful time this is for both you and you're dad.the waiting is awful but hopefully when the results come the doctors will be able to offer you're dad some sort of treatment plan.you have come to the right place here to ask questions.

    Best wishes james
