Mum had primary grade 3 brain tumour

Hi everyone. My Mum was diagnosed yesterday with grade 3 primary brain tumour. They are not sure if she may have some grade 4 cells but the biopsy showed grade 3. They are saying that without treatment she will start to show serious symptoms in the next couple of months or, if she has radiotherapy she may have up to 2 years. She is 71 and not in the best of health. I don't know what to say or do? Are there any books or case studies? In August her MRI scan showed nothing so this is rather a shock. How do I know if this is palliative?

  • Hi there ... sorry about your mum's diagnosis.. Bless her ... all I would say is ask her what she wants to do ... and support her decision...  l took all the information that I could get ... and way up what was right for me ... with full support of my family, and consultant... I took about 3 days out of time, and I'm pleased with my decision.. it was right for me ...

Cancer can feel like we loose our control, and go along with what others want .. it really made me feel positive, and put me back in the driving seat ... I'm 63 .. hope that helps a little, and hopefully you'll get other points of view too ... take care and know all those feelings, your feeling is so normal, even the strongest of us have low days ... big hug Chrissie xx
