Advice on melanoma cancer

After having a biopsy 4 weeks ago, I've been advised I have melanoma cancer. I'm due to get the remaining part of my mole removed on Tuesday and fingers crossed it's been caught in time.

I'm just looking for someone who' been in a similar situation and how they coped? I'm a very emotional person as it is and it's taking everything not to get upset in front of my children.

    Hi,

I see that this is your first post, so a very warm welcome to Cancer Chat.

I am sorry to hear about your melanoma, but glad that you think that you’ve caught it in time. I am afraid that I know very little about melanoma and I am not a medic. Can I suggest that you use the search engine on the blue banner at the top of this page?  If you insert ‘melanoma’  in the box and click, you will find previous posts on the subject.

I hope that all goes well on Tuesday, when you get the remaining part removed. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you whenever you want to talk.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hello SJoyce and welcome to the forum.

Coping with a cancer diagnosis can be very tough so I have included some information we have on our website about coping emotionally with cancer which I hope will help you at this time.

I noticed you're also looking to chat to others so I've had a look through our forum and found two members that I want to put you in touch: [@Lmccall]‍ and [@florance3]‍  as they have also had the experience of being diagnosed with melanoma cancer. Now that I've mentioned them in this post they will hopefully pop by when they can to share their advice and experiences with you.

Good luck for your appointment on Tuesday Sjoyce. I hope it goes well and we'll be thinking of you on the day.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
