Hi all

I just found out on Wednesday that I have breast cancer I am so scared can anyone give me any advice on this

  • Hello there from some one who is already in treatment for it. There are a lot of us on this chat forum who have or have had breast cancer in all it's glory so someone, somewhere will be doing or will have been through the same as you.

Do you have a treatment plan yet?

  • Hi Jackie

I am 2 wks post lumpectomy and node removal so just a little ahead of you on the road you find yourself traveling.

I was told at my scan and biopsy appt that they were fairly certain we were looking at cancer - she was right that was the 10th August.  A wk later consultant confirmed results with additional info the grade and oestrogen positive he also said what the care plan would b with a date for my op. Has this been Yr experience so far?

A wk after that I had an mri scan. A wk again and was back t consultant with results of mri and confirmed my date for op which was 2 wks ago.

Thats the practicalities ( of how my road has gone so far).

Emotionally- Whatever u r feeling now well lay odds on that was me too. Everyone on here was saying don’t think ahead take it one day at a time - they were right. Once you stop thinking ahead it all becomes manageable. It’s early days and your head will be chasing it’s tail to nowhere. It will get better. You can look this in the eye and stare it down.

Rileyroo is right sadly a lot of people on here at every stage possible of the cancer road - you are not alone, you were told on Wednesday on Thursday you were one day ahead of someone else just being told.

We are here for u whenever u need us me dear.

keep wellbin mind and body - sending hugs

  • I find out my treatment plan on Thursday .every thing going through my head as I had been looking after my mum who had lung cancer and passed away on the 2nd August and am still grieving for her it just doesn't feel real

  • Hi get my treatment plan on Thursday will they do any tests on this day do you think

  • Hi jacky ... how cruel to get this after looking after your mum... this cancer has no limits ... but now it’s time you look after you , bless ya .. there’s quite a few of us brest cancer ladies on here .. wer all at different points im10 weeks post mastectomy and doing really well ... I found the stage your at the hardest ... the waiting and “what ifs” going round the old brain ...

i found the op wasn’t half as bad ... just aching under the arm where lymph node was ... I was looking forward to the morphine kick after op like when I had my hysterectomy... only needed parasitamol ...  have you got family or friends to go with you ... I shared my journey (always did it on my own before, as didn’t want them to worry) but so glad I did .. I had one or another come with me each time ... and when I started to panic as my son was panicking too .. my daughter in law sat us down and said o.k so it’s cancer ... we’ll deal with ever result , every problem as and when they come up .. no more “what ifs” wer in this ... TOGETHER... and true to her word .. she held my hand at my biopsy.. her and my son stayed through the op .. she’s still keeping our feet on the floor ... best advice I ever had ..

so one day at a time my hunny and you can do this , even if you have a few tears along the way , it’s all part of this journey... sending you a big hug ... Chrisie xx

  • It might depend on how much information they already have. A biopsy might be a possibility but if that was the case you would have been told as you can't drive afterwards, well I wasn't allowed anyway. An ultrasound could be done if you haven't already had one.
  • Hi chriss yeah I am finding the waiting so hard .I have a big family and they are all very supportive .I felt so bad telling them all because of what they all had to deal with mum and also with my dad in 2014 as he also died with cancer of the bone .My fear is I have 4 children and what if something goes wrong .

  • So sorry to hear that Jackie bless you already had enough on your plate.

Have you already had your biopsies done and is Thursdays meeting your 2 nd meeting with your consultant ( your 1st being on Wednesday when you got your diagnosis). As mentioned earlier I was given my formal results at my 1st meeting with the consultant ( they talked about my treatment plan and give me in depth results and told me I would need an mri scan). A wk later had my second meeting they discussed results again and What our decision was for the op and date To have it. I had no further tests at either of these meetings.

    Take care
