    Hi Moodyone,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Have you had two operations in the one breast or are both affected?

I have had two bouts of breast cancer. The first was 7 years ago and the second was the following year. The first time I had a lumpectomy followed by Tamoxifen. I was advised to also have radotherapy, but by the time I was ready to have the radiotherapy 11 months had passed and there was no point in doing that.

The second time I had a double mastectomy followed by Letrozole. We feel that the second cancer was due to the fact that not a clear enough margin had been taken the first time around.

It is a pity that they don't do radiotherapy at your local hospital. Does this involve a much longer trip to the main hospital?

If your oncologist is suggesting chemo as well, it sounds as if he is using the belt and braces approach. I can understand his stance if there is one lymph node involved. He wouldn't be advising this if he didn't feel that this is the best procedure.

Naturally the decision is entirely yours, but how would you feel if you refused and it spread ?

I hope that you reach the decision that is best for you and that it will stem the spread of this horrible disease.

Please let us know how you get on. There is always someone here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
