Question re Thy3f

Hi, like a lot of other people I need help understanding my diagnosis so far. I found a lump in my neck back in May, went through the doctor, hospital route, had a scan and a FNA and the result so far is Thy3f, the consultant recommended a diagnostic left thyroid lobectomy as the lump is 47mm in size and he said too large to leave.  So, ok fine with all that. They are a team of 3 consultants working together and the first consultant that examined me had the impression that it was a cyst that I had bled into, I wasn't told this at the time, but he referred me for the scan and FNA.  My question now is with the result of the FNA could it still be a cyst that I have bled into???

    Hi Cali,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I would agree with Sandy, you will get a more educated answer from the nurses about this. Their telephone number is Freephone and is 0808 800 4040. I hope that they can explain it better to you. By the way, never be afraid to ask about anything that you don't understand when you have a consultation. Your care team should explain it all to you, but sometimes they forget that we are not as well versed in medical terms as they are.

Until you get your test results back you cannot be sure what you have. I hope for your sake that it is a cyst, but your doctors sound as if they are looking at something more serious.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. There is always someone here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
