Dad's first appointment with Oncologist tomorrow

Hi All

We received the news that my dad has two probable sites of secondary cancer last week bhind his ear and under his eye after being referred to ENT with Tinnitus.

He has already had a full body nuclear scan which has not identified any primary.

Tomorrow he has his first appointment with the oncologist and myself and my mum are going with him.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect at this appointment?

Thankyou

    Hi Amy,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

I am sorry to hear about the two probable secondary sites behind your Dad’s ear and under his eye. I presume that these have already been scanned and tested? I hope that all goes well when you meet his oncologist tomorrow and that you can agree on a treatment plan.

It is impossible to say exactly what will be done tomorrow, as this will depend upon the staging of his cancer and the type of cancer that he has. You will be brought into a consulting room to discuss what brought your Dad to see him. If there are any results to get still you will be given these. If the oncologist wants any further tests done he will arrange this and then he will discuss what treatment your Dad is likely to have.

Please let us know how you get on. There is always someone here for you whatever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
