Mum diagnosed with BC

My lovely mum has been diagnosed with BC. Waiting on biopsy results. Tumour is 2cm. The wait is torture. She is being so brave. Mum is 74. We do not know anything more and feel like we are in a big void of information. I have read loads of information. Some positive some downright scary. She has only just started to relax in life after watching my nan suffer with dementia and her 7 year old grandson come through a 3.5 year battle with leukaemia. Life is so unfair

    Hi Dencol,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am so sorry to hear about your Mum’s breast cancer. Waiting for results is always a scary time. Life is never fair and your Mum’s circumstances certainly show this. She must have had a hard time with your Nan and with her grandson, so it does seem very unfair that she is now facing this diagnosis.

Do I take it that you have been doing a lot of research on the Internet? I hope that you are only looking at bone fide sites like Cancer Research, which will give you accurate information. Sadly not everything on the Internet is well-researched or accurate and it is easy to frighten yourself with some of this.

Try to support her as best you can. Let her know how much you love her. Help out with housework, as she is possibly finding this a chore at present. Ironing and cooking are other chores that you could help out with.

Has she been told when she will get her biopsy results? I hope that it’s not much longer, as every day feels like a lifetime at this stage.

Do keep in touch and remember that there is always someone here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi. Thank you for your reply. Mum is a soldier. She is carrying on as normal and would not want it any other way. I know she has cried but not around us. We are a very close family and support each other

Results on the 8th. I am suprised that the lumpectomy isn't sooner. I am worried it will grow and spread. I am only reading proper sites.
