stage III cancer - kidney mestastised to both lungs

Hi everyone, I'm Farah. I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. Here are a few quick facts:

Why I'm here: A very dear family member was diagnosed with stage III kidney cancer which has metastised to the lungs.

How long since diagnosis: 5 weeks

The diagnosis: After the initial shock of finding such horrific news, I began my research. The hospital offered no treatment as they said it was too far gone and grandad had too many other ailments. They simply offered pain relief. I simply did not believe that this was my only fate; to accept that there was nothing we could do.

Next steps: I will keep you guys posted as to our success. Our next CT scan should be around October time.

Most importantly, do NOT give up! I felt as if my world had come to an end with this news..and still have days where this is so difficult. However it is a journey, and as with all journeys, there will be good times and bad times.

Don't forget to spend time with those you care about, above all treatments, this is the most important.

I will continue to post as I have more information.

  • Hi farra....

So sorry to hear bout your grandad ... It doesn't make it easier because of their age .... I've lost both grandparent and mum and dad .... Mum went quick with heart attach and dad slowly with pnumonacosis ... But the thing that helped me is l made the most of days with mum while she was here and l can still hear the laughter we shared and my dad was magic and didn't once complain ...

A friend told me after she died that her mum had never laughed or given her memories to cherish .. and I realized just how lucky I had been ... A buddist monk said once don't cry coz you loose someone ... Smile coz you had them for the time you had ... So now l feel them with me and feel they are watching over me with my cancer and l believe they just wait for us ...

So whatever time your blest with make memories to stay with you always .... And lots of hugs coz you can never have too many .  Sending you big hug and hope you both have lots of time too ...xx
