When is.urgent not urgent

I was referred for an urgent MRI scan but have been waiting 3 weeks my gp surgery has been chasing it for me. First it was yes we got the referral should hear next week for appointment. Then it was yes will be sending out appointment now it is we will try.and fit.her in. When I said it is referred as a urgent the receptionist then said well there must be others more urgent.

Well that relaxed me NOT

Hi Kaz,
That is so frustrating. Just a thought but it might be worth checking that the surgery flagged the referral both as Urgent AND as a Cancer referral as there are different targets for "Urgent - non-Cancer" and "Urgent - Cancer".

I don't know.what to do I still haven't got even a date for the MRI I have phoned the doctors.so many times and all they say is that the hospital said they will be sending me.an appointment soon can I phone the hospital to chase it or am I not allowed to and do I just ask for mri department

My stress over this is getting to me

You are allowed to do anything you like.
I've lost count of the number of times I've phoned our local CT department to arrange scans for myself once I've been referred, I often offer to come in at short notice if they have a cancellation. Explain why you're ringing and why you need a scan asap, they are only human.

Thank you I don't like to cause a fuss usually but it is now getting to me . I hate all the fuss this illness causes but I know I can't stick my head in the sand
