CIN 2 and CGIN treatment

hi

I'm new to the site and I'm looking for help and advise please. I'm so scared and stressing. I've been diagnosed with CIN 2 and CGIN pre cancer , I've had the lletz procedure and results were high risk for both no clear margins. Was told that they didn't remove all abnormal cells but they put on a cream/liquid to try and kill remaining cells. Was told my case would be put to MDT? Got a call yesterday and was told that another lletz was pointless and treatment will be a hysterectomy. I feel I've not been told everything, how can they say this with no scans no further checking. I'm only 30!! I have an appointment to meet with the consultant on 31st July I'm going out my mind with worry is there no other options to try 1st? :-( thanks x

    Hi Pocket,

Welcome to the forum that nobody really wants to join and sorry to hear about your diagnosis. The MDT is a meeting of the multidisciplinary team and this is where all the professionals involved in your care discuss it before deciding the best way forward for you.

Make a list of all your questions before you go to your appointment on 31st July. Do you have anyone that you can bring with you to your appointments. It is often helpful to have another pair of ears at your consultation, as we only manage to recall a small amount of what is said at these meetings. It is also helpful to have someone accompany you to all of your appointments if you can manage this.

Don't be afraid to discuss other options with your consultant before you go for a hysterectomy.  Remember that this is happening to your body and you don't have to do anything that you don't want to do.

It's no wonder that you are going out of your mind with worry. Waiting for results is one of the most stressful parts of the cancer journey. You may also find yourself crying a lot. Let the tears flow, as this is a good release valve.

You are young to be having this trouble. Please let us know how you get on when you visit the hospital. There is always someone here to talk to.

    Jolamine xx

Here's hoping for a good result.

    Kind regards,

  • hi pocket

Hardest part is not knowing, I have been told I have highlevel cin and cancer, when you go ask which hysterectomy they will be doing, as there is several kinds, get all the information and dont feel rail roaded, even if you want someone there too so afterwards before you decide you can weigh up all the pros and cons, if they use words you dont know ask them to explain fully, in plain english.. write it all down or ask your friend to jot down notes etc, i recorded mine on my phone so i could hear back, ... talking to someone who knows this area can help too... try talking to a cancer nurse on any of the good hotlines with any doubts or asking for a recap on words etc they may be able give you some insight of terminology etc. the more information you have the less scarey it is....Good luck and i hope all goes well keep us updated...
